Welcome to the home of Mara’s beadwork. A stroll through the site will give you a sense of how I have turned my fascination with tiny beads into intricate jewelry designs. My jewelry has been selected to appear in various juried shows in and around Washington DC, including at the Mansion at Strathmore, the Glen Echo Park Craft Show, and JRA Day of the James Renwick Alliance.
The tiny seed beads and Swarovsky crystals that I use in my work come in an endless variety of colors and finishes, from silver-lined to translucent, from opaque to color-lined. I am always on the lookout for patterns that might be used in necklace and bracelet designs. From a Frank Lloyd Wright window to the pattern in a contemporary carpet, the world is filled with possibilities. I weave the beads with special thread that is both flexible and sturdy. The necklaces, bracelets and earrings are amazingly light-weight. To make the necklaces easy to close, I use buttons that complement the beads.
